The hamlet of Chianale, one of the villages part of the Borghi più belli d’Italia group, already delightful in the summer due to the bright colors of the surrounding nature, becomes enchanting in winter, covered by the blanket of the snow.
Thanks also to the fact that in this period it is quite uninhabited and few tourists arrive here during the week days, going through the silent alleys of Chianalebecomes a unique experience.
Thus, you can walk the Chemin Royal, the central street of the village, in complete solitude and admire the beautifully restored stone houses.
The Church of San Antonio, the one of San Lorenzo and the beautiful stone bridge that connects the two parts of the town, divided in two by the Varaita Torrent, so whitened make the village seem like a suggestive part of a crib.
In winter, when the woods are covered with snow, the main activities to be carried out are climbing ice falls, Nordic skiing and snowshoeing.
In the area of Pontechianale there are also alpine ski slopes and a ski area with a bob and sled run.
